Windsor, CA, February 20, 2023 —Online wine shipping e-commerce and compliance platform, Vinoshipper, has released a first-of-its-kind study to show that e-commerce platforms with age-verification software are 100 percent effective at stopping illegal sales of alcoholic beverages to minors. The study shows that direct-to-consumer sales are the safest way for alcohol to be sold and pre-purchase age verification software is a cost effective and reliable way to block and measure minors’ attempt to purchase alcohol online. Why Age-Verification is Not an Issue for Direct-to-Consumer Sales Early in the practice of Direct to Consumer (DTC) shipping of wine, age verification was a major concern and often used by some to argue why DTC should not be allowed. But we have come a long way since the wine industry began shipping its products to customers in 1987 (35 years ago).
