A myriad of fizzy drinks have become accessible and affordable champagne alternatives for at home celebrations and now compete for space on store shelves. Palate-tingling beverages have continued to increase in popularity, and we see that sparkling wine is starting to become a wine category of it's own, with a great diversity of styles and origins. Bubbly beverage products are showing up everywhere, with every varietal and style being carbonated to react to the trend. There are several ways to create a lasting fizz in your beverage, but three basic methods prove the most popular: Method Champenoise (or Traditionelle) is the most time intensive process, involving fermentation followed by bottling with a bidule and crown closure, riddling followed by yeast disgorgement and ultimately the final product is corked. This method is considered the best by sparkling purists. Up to 6 Volumes CO2 pressure True Champagnes Charmat (Forced Carbonation)- The Charmat method is a sparkling winemaki

Consumers have started prioritizing sustainable products and that includes sustainable packaging. Because millennials and Gen Z drink across all alcohol categories, sustainability is a competitive brand advantage. Steel kegs are one of the most sustainable packaging options because it is reusable for 30+ years. With the glass-bottle shortage, there is no better time than now to finally prioritize this zero-waste format. Are you unsure if your program is the right fit? Here are some tips on when to choose steel kegs over glass bottles: YOUR WINE IS FOR AN ON-PREMISE, BY-THE-GLASS PROGRAM Wine on tap is a great option for by-the-glass programs. YOUR WINE DOESN’T REQUIRE BOTTLE AGING If your program only requires aging wine in the cellar and not in a bottle, then steel kegs are a great packa

Wine on tap has its fair share of myths. We at Free Flow Wines want to debunk those myths and help wineries, restaurants, hotels, and other venues expand their zero-waste efforts by switching their by-the-glass wine programs from glass bottles to steel kegs. Myth #1: Only low-quality wine is packaged in a keg & served on tap Quite the contrary! Quality preservation is the primary reason for pouring wines on tap. Bottles used for by-the-glass programs can be problematic for a variety of reasons: Wine may be corked Bottles opened for too long will oxidize the wine Bottles are often not stored properly and can spoil the wine Glass bottles can expose the wine to sunlight or heat Staff may not be able to assess an opened bottle’s quality All these factors impact the consumer and their impression of that glass a
