Tour Condor’s Hope Vineyard in the Cuyama Valley and see how a dry-farmed vineyard can succeed in an arid landscape. Steve Gliessman will share insights on vineyard design, rootstock selection, and establishment practices that help set vines up for long-term resilience. Learn how soil cultivation techniques can maximize storage of limited rainfall, along with other farming practices tailored to this unique site. Transportation is provided. Please select the carpool transportation option when registering if you plan to ride with the group. Newly Established Century Club Honors 22 Sonoma County Legacy Farm Families
Each Family Has Continuously Farmed Land for More than 100 Years The image of vibrant farms and rugged ranches set among Sonoma County’s beautiful landscapes has long been sought after by tourists, painters and photographers. The sheer beauty has always stood out, but, given that the area’s first vineyards date back to 1812, it is the region’s agrarian roots and family legacy that makes Sonoma County unique. Today, twenty-two local families, all winegrape growers, were recognized as the original members of the “Century Club” in honor of their continuously farming their family’s original land for more than one hundred years. Sonoma County Winegrowers created the Century Club to mark the unique legacies of farm families in the region and it will recognize new families with the honor as they hit the one-hundred-year mark in the years ahead. Join Vineyard Team at Tablas Creek Vineyard for a discussion on establishing and farming a dry farmed vineyard.  Learn from Jordan Lonborg (Vineyard Manager) and Neil Collins (Executive Winemaker) about their floor management, soils, stormwater management, establishment considerations, and lessons learned from their dry-farmed blocks. REGISTER Coffee and pastries will be provided. Please wear sturdy foot wear as we’ll be in a pretty rugged location. There will be an opportunity at the end of the meeting to hike to the top of the hill to see part of the planting that is well established.   Directions: Follow Google Maps directions to this dropped pin. Harvest Intern at kukkula (Paso Robles, CA, USA)
Kukkula is looking for an harvest intern. We are on the west side of Paso Robles in the Adelaida District and are focused on Rhone blends that come from our estate grown, dry-farmed and organic vineyard. The internship could begin as early as the 1st of June and likely run into November. Continued full-time employment is possible after the harvest to qualified candidates.
