A look at the trends influencing wine packaging design & innovation. Introduction U.S. wine total volume is expected to remain relatively flat for the next several years, while value will grow due to price increases and the persistence of the premiumization trend. In the crowded and increasingly challenging wine market, effective package design can help a brand get noticed and appeal to consumers. This report looks at several key trends impacting wine package design, from authentic storytelling to interactive engagement to environmentally and socially responsible solutions. Authenticity According to a recent GlobalData study, three out of four consumers consider product/brand authenticity essential or nice to have when making purchase decisions. This attitude is especially true among older generations and higher-income earners, a key demographic for wine sellers. Authentic brands are perceived as genuine, original, and transparent, providing quality assurance and trust. Euromon

Until now, the heaviest estate-grade pressure sensitive wine label stock available was 80#. While this material can be debossed effectively, it cannot achieve the same depths as letterpress. However, letterpress requires crafting one label at a time and hand application, so unless a winery’s production is a few hundred cases or less, it was not possible (or extremely time-consuming and expensive) to have a label on thick paper with deep letterpress relief… until now. Stop by our booth and check out samples of our exclusive 163# paper stock, Densissima!

Swing by Booth 121 to check out our exclusive 163# Densissima paper stock. This is more than double the standard Estate stock (70#). While these regular Estate materials can be debossed effectively, they cannot achieve the same depths as letterpress. However, letterpress requires crafting one label at a time and hand application, so unless a winery’s production is a few hundred cases or less, it was not possible (or extremely time-consuming and expensive) to have a label on thick paper with deep letterpress relief… until now! Densissima can achieve the letterpress look while being able to run on high speed bottling lines (as well as table top equipment). Use our promo code TRY121 for $35 off any ticket! “The speeds of today’s bottling lines are truly staggering and the fact that we are able to tell rich and evocative stories on thin paper that has been printed, embossed, debossed, foiled, varnished, treated, stretched, glued and then dumped in an ice bucket is incredible. Without such papers we wouldn’t be able to tell such stories.”
Since 1994 Stranger & Stranger has been creating successful products and brands, defining niches, brand strategies, names, creating bespoke bottles, labels, packs, marketing platforms and collateral. The world-renowned studio has labelled up a billion units a year in one of the toughest markets around, always adding value to people’s ideas and efforts and infusing its trailblazing genius in each and every creation.
