WISE Rising Star & Texas Hill Country Scholarship Recipients Announced.
We proudly announced the recipients of the inaugural WISE Rising Stars Scholarships during a live presentation at the DTC Wine Symposium last week, celebrating the next generation of DTC wine industry leaders in front of more than 500 winery professionals. As one of the event’s original sponsors, WISE continues to invest in the Symposium’s mission of education, collaboration, and forward‑thinking leadership. The Rising Stars Scholarships extend that commitment—supporting people, developing leadership, and strengthening the DTC community across the industry. The Rising Stars Scholarships received an overwhelming response from across the country. The strength of applications prompted Commerce7 to step in and match one of the scholarships, allowing WISE to expand the program and support additional recipients. Join us as we raise a glass towards this year's recipients! Kelsey Gomes is the DTC Marketing Manager at Lange Twins Family Winery & Vineyards. Upon re

A First-Gen Student's Journey to Yale
“Every experience in my academic journey starts with a single fact: I am the first in my family to continue my education.”— Denise, Juan Nevarez Memorial Scholar, Yale University First-generation college students like Denise don’t just pack up and head to school—they carry big dreams, heavy responsibilities, and the quiet courage to be the first. They often navigate college on their own, juggling tight budgets, unfamiliar systems, and the emotional challenge of leaving home. But when someone believes in them, everything changes. The Juan Nevarez Memorial Scholarship was created to do exactly that—by offering financial support and mentorship to the children of vineyard and winery workers. It’s not just a scholarship; it’s a bridge to a better future. And it's working: our scholars are graduating, thriving, and giving back to their communities. --- Denise's Journey to Yale As the first in her family to attend college, Denise h

Management of Heterogeneous/altered Red Harvests
The year 2024 was marked by fairly contrasting and varied weather conditions depending on the region. In addition to the consequences on the volume, the quality of the harvest on the eve of the harvest promises to be complex and heterogeneous. Once again, the winemaker will have to call upon all his talents in order to make the best choices according to the quality of the grapes (heterogeneous harvest, botrytis, mildew, etc.). In such situations, it is crucial to act quickly at each stage of winemaking, by choosing the best options available to us (physical practices and choice of technological aids). The risks to the future quality of the wine are numerous and must be considered as early as possible in order to better counter them (oxidations, lack of maturity, bad tastes, fermentability and clarification problems). LAFFORT® offers you tips at each stage to help you manage your harvest in this context. Sorting the harvest, when possible, remains the preferred tool for removing

Cockroaches are a problem in commercial properties, especially in restaurants and food processing plants. They are attracted to these locations because of the food, moisture, and warmth that is often present. Cockroaches can contaminate food with bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens that they pick up while crawling through such unsanitary areas as sewers and garbage dumps. The disease pathogens that cockroaches can carry and spread, such as Salmonella and E. coli, can cause serious health problems in humans if ingested. In addition, cockroach droppings and exuviae – exoskeletons shed from molting – can trigger allergic reactions in people, especially those with asthma. Cockroaches reproduce rapidly. They are known to hide in small cracks and crevices, which makes them difficult to detect and eliminate. If left unchecked, they can quickly turn into a major infestation that compromises the safety and quality of the food being produced or served. It’s important for res
