House of Gilliard The tradition of the House of Gilliard in Switzerland goes back to the 19th Century, with the today famous Dôle des Monts wine. The winery handles the whole wine making process in-house, from growing the grapes to bottling. Achieving wine of the highest quality requires a command of the whole production process. Gilliard’s wine masters rely on Atlas Copco to help them with this task. The House of Gilliard has equipped its production site with two Variable Speed Drive (VSD) compressors and a nitrogen generator. Thanks to this installation, the wine house has on-site nitrogen and does no longer need to purchase nitrogen in cylinders. The advantages are obvious: the Gilliard house saves time, money and energy thanks to its on-site nitrogen. Nitrogen, the hidden ingredient Cultivating grapes, harvesting and wine making: the delicate process of producing wine always ends in bottling, which requires compressed air and nitrogen. The wine industry is grappling with uncertainty in a rapidly changing economic landscape, leaving winery owners, grape farmers, and wine sales teams in a state of flux. Wineries were already coping with a demographic shift towards younger generations less interested in wine than Boomer enthusiasts when the pandemic catalyzed market disruption. When bars, restaurants and tasting rooms closed, consumers stocked up on budget-friendly wines, and value wine sales briefly surged. Then, with extra cash from government stimulus checks, they began buying premium and luxury wines. Small wineries adapted by introducing curbside pickups and digital wine tastings and utilized their phone and email lists to reach potential customers which helped shore up losses from tasting room closures. Unfortunately, two and a half years post-pandemic, sales remain disappointing despite reopened tasting rooms and other hospitality businesses. Amcor Capsules has worked with Maison Saint Aix on tin closures, creating a solution for its six litre large-format bottles. The move has seen Amcor work with the winemaker following previous collaboration from 2015, when the firms first teamed up on development and when it began supplying the winery with Stelvin Lux screw caps for their 75cl bottles. Located in the hillsides of the Coteaux d’Aix-en Provence appellation, Maison Saint Aix only produces one product, Aix rosé, which is available in a large range of bottle sizes, from the classic 75cl to the massive 15l format, making it a great choice for many different occasions, it said. In order to elegantly package the larger six litre bottles for pouring at weddings or grand ceremonies “can be a real challenge”, it said, so the firm worked with Amcor on a solution. While several solutions for capping such bottles are available in the spirits industry, they are “less prevalent in the wine sect

In these smaller setting, guests get to know the people behind the wines. They learn a little winery history and have the opportunity to sample wines from different wineries, side-by-side. When planning, we also leave plenty of time for "audience participation" with Q & A. These seminars are open to the general public, but are offered at a 50% discount to our Wine Road Insider members. Details on Insider Membership HERE To keep that small, personalized vibe, each seminar/tasting is limited to 20-30 people, depending on the location.
