When CD & Power started almost 40 years ago, our founder Chuck Uischner had a vision of providing remarkable service powered by integrity. After holding a variety of jobs, Chuck relied on his expertise as a diesel mechanic to launch what was initially called California Diesel & Power in 1985. He was a dreamer and a believer in all that was good. He started CD & Power as a one-man band at the age of 45 and proclaimed that he would someday be the best generator business around. Chuck’s wife Jannett, as well as children Jill (Collaro) and Don, helped build the operation along with him. The result has been a culture of enduring commitment to both customer and employee success. Along the way, CD & Power moved to its current location in Martinez, and opened a second location in Sacramento to better serve the Northern California area. CD & Power Today The vision of creating the best generator business around has proved true with our 8+ years of earning a T

As we celebrate Labor Day this year we are pleased to pause and recognize just one corner of our devoted CD & Power team – our apprentices. Back in 2021 we announced that our apprenticeship program had been approved by the California Department of Industrial relations. Since then our managers and administrative staff members have been busy making training materials available to our apprentices, our experienced faculty have conducted numerous in-person training sessions, and we have recorded dozens of training videos to reinforce learning. Our Master Generator Technician program consists of almost 600 hours of instruction and training over a four-year period! Participants learn through a mixture of hands-on training, in-house developed coursework, Industry-recognized material such as the 5th edition of EGSA’s Onsite Power Generation, and training courses offered by equipment partners such as Isuzu, John Deere, and Cummins. Topics range from safety to electrical sy

CD & Power has been selected as one of the top places to work in the San Francisco Bay Area. “We’re thrilled to be named to the list once again, alongside other great companies. We know our job is never done when it comes to investing in our people,” said Jill Collaro, President. “We’re honored to have won this workplace recognition for the 8th year in a row. It motivates us to keep innovating in the ways that we operate.” Creating a Top Workplace is about more than offering great benefits and vacation time. It’s about organizational health. Employees want to align with the company’s vision, be challenged by a high-performance culture, and feel that they are valued and that their voices are heard. There’s more to employee engagement than free lunches, happy hours, and take-your-dog-to-work day. The fact is, engagement can be challenging, and it requires leaders to commit to making it a priority. Since receiving the award in 2

As we prepare for Christmas and New Years, we reflect on another year of challenges and blessings. This year we shared our good fortune by supporting local charities like Operation Creekside, New Day for Children, Shepherds Gate to name a few. We also packed over 60 boxes for Operation Christmas Child. We have reconnected with each other after a year of working from home. Our business has been built on relationships. First with each other and then with our customers. We have worked hard to gain the knowledge necessary to help our customers meet air quality requirements and keep new more technical generators running. It was a ReMarkable year of accomplishment as we launched the first and only state-approved apprenticeship program specific to generators. This program will give our up and coming technicians the safety and technical training they need to support an ever changing generator marketplace. We are confident in our people and service and look forward to a year
