Our latest model, the F3015 now features a brushless motor which means a lighter tool that's more ergonomic and is even less susceptible to breakdowns. The new lithium-ion battery is small and light while providing a 9 hour charge. The top-of-the-line battery also charges in just 1.5 hours and doesn't need to re-charge during the off season.

Head Changes: The F3015 is perfect for orchards thanks to an ingenious system that lets users change the cutting head to up the cutting capacity from 1.6" to 2.2". Here the F3015 improves on an already great system by making head changes even easier - users just need to change two screws. Pole Pruning: The shear also easily converts to a pole pruner. Light carbon-fiber poles are available in a variety of sizes from 4' to 11'5" and the shear works with any of these poles no matter what size cutting head is used. Worker Safety: The Electrocoup also seeks to reduce repetitive motion injuries (RMIs) which OSHA sites as accounting for one in four lost-time injuries. To eliminate all fears of hand injuries, workers can wear a cotton glove interwoven with metal fibers – when the glove touches the metal blade the device is grounded and the blades can't budge. With the safety glove on one hand and the Electrocoup in the other, workers move swiftly, pruning with confidence without the inevitable feeling of fatigue.

Electrocoup Pruning Shears Speed Pruning & Reduce Injuries

Livermore, CA Vineyard owners looking for ways to increase productivity and to save operating costs in a competitive market have long been forced to weigh the benefits of electric pruning shears against the ever-present possibility of workers losing a finger to these powerful tools.  Livermore-based Infaco USA now offers a stunningly simple yet ingenious way for vineyard owners and managers to have their wine and drink it too: The Electrocoup F3010 shears bring all the speed and the assisted power of an electric pruner while virtually eliminating the possibility of injuries.

According toPractical Winery & Vineyard Journal, “hand pruning remains the single largest expense in vineyard operations” but mechanization can help. The Australian and New Zealand Grape Growers and Winemakers participated in a first ever research program that showed not only did workers quickly adapt to the pruners, but their output increased by an astounding 40 percent. What’s more, the Electrocoup F3010 also seeks to reduce repetitive motion injuries (RMIs) which OSHA sites as accounting for one in four lost-time injuries reported to the Labor Bureau of Statistics.

The Electrocoup F3010 shear itself is a light tool operated solely by pulling a trigger with one finger and can easily cut through 2 inch diameter branches. The operator wears a light battery pack fitted in a Camelbak style vest that allows for all-day pruning without recharging. To eliminate all fears of hand injuries, workers can don a cotton glove interwoven with metal fibers – when the glove is touched to any metal part of the Electrocoup F3010 – such as the sharp metal edge of the shears – the device is grounded and the blades won’t budge. With the safety glove on one hand and the Electrocoup in the other, workers move swiftly through the rows, grabbing canes, and pruning with confidence without the inevitable feeling of fatigue.

To work faster without the looming fear of repetitive motion injuries or serious wounds, the Electrocoup F3010 and its companion safety glove are a creative solution to a centuries-old problem.

Removing Diseased Vines

"I love this method because I don’t have to bend down and kill my back. Plus I can get the work done quickly without needing a tractor."

Q: What kind of diameter were you cutting in the video?
A: Between 1 and 2 inches but some larger like 2.5-3″.  There is a cool technique I learned on how to cut large material with the medium head by rotating the tool in the same direction that the cutting blade is moving in while the blade is closing.

Q: What is the purpose of cutting down those trunks?
A: Those vines are infected with Phylloxera because they are not grafted, so I am removing them for replanting in 2017.

Q: What kind of vineyards do that kind of work?
A: Any vineyard or other operation requiring removal of the plant at soil level could use our tool for that purpose.  Using the Electrocoup pruner is better than a saw because any small amount of soil will destroy a chain saw in seconds and reciprocating saws dull faster also.

Any type of systemic disease could require this type of work.  There are many disease that infect vineyards and require removal of vines, Pearces Disease, Phylloxera infestation, Red Blotch….long list not to mention Eutypa, Crown Gall, black gooo…

Q: How is the work usually done?
A: Sometimes the vines are cut to 18″ tall and pulled up with a chain attached to a tractor.  I will be cutting as low as possible and then using a tillage machine to chop up and release the roots and below ground stump.

Q: Is there a certain time of year that this work is usually done?
A: Could be anytime of year but preferably after harvest and before budbreak, during the dormant season.

Q: Who’s your amazing cinematographer?
A: My son shot this at the Dog and Oyster

Another Round of Suckering?

Removing suckers with Infaco's EPAv2For those of us with another round of suckers popping up, Infaco USA has a revolutionary solution (and it's on sale!).

Was: $1183 > Now: $1056

Infaco's desuckerer is a hand-held, battery-powered unit that helps users remove suckers 37% faster than going by hand - plus you'll never have to bend down. Our studies showed that workers removing suckers by hand have to bend over 3,000-4,000 times per day. This is back breaking work and it's time consuming. The desuckerer by Infaco eliminates bending over because its telescopic pole can be adjusted to match any user's height. A few other points to consider:

* Knocks off 99% of suckers
* No training needed
* Compatible with Infaco's Electrocoup batteries

Not for use in vineyards with netting around the trunks

Just Arrived: Infaco's New F3015 Electric Pruner!

Infaco invented the first ever electric pruning shear over 30 years ago. Now our newly redesigned F3015 model has touched down in the USA and is ready for pruning action!

What's New

The shear itself now features a brushless motor which means a lighter tool that's more ergonomic and is even less susceptible to breakdowns. Of course the shear still features Infaco's patented safety system which eliminates the fear that workers will injur their non-pruning hand.

A completely redesigned lithium-ion battery is now smaller and lighter so users can now wear the battery in 4 different ways. The 48V battery lets users get a full 9 hour work day on a single charge. This top-of-the-line lithium-ion battery charges in just 1.5 hours and features a hibernation mode eliminating the need to re-charge during the summer months.

Highly Adaptable

  • Head Changes: The F3015 can be used for cane pruning, Eutypa surgery and more thanks to an ingenious system that lets users change the cutting head to up the cutting capacity from 1.6" to 2.2".  Here the F3015 improves on an already great system by making head changes even easier - users just need to change two screws.
  • Pole Pruning: For vineyards with landscaping needs or olive trees to prune, the shear easily converts to a pole pruner. Light carbon-fiber poles are available in a variety of sizes from 4' to 11'5" and the shear works with any of these poles no matter what cutting head is used.

The Most Powerful, Effective Pruning Tool Is Now on the Market

Electrocoup F3015 Standard 00

Infaco’s redesigned F3015 pruning shear just hit the US this fall and is the most powerful, effective pruning tool on the market, with two tons of torque.

It also features a safety system for the non-pruning hand, consisting of a light cotton glove with metal mesh fibers that are lightly conductive, so that if the blade comes in contact with the glove, the electrical cycle is immediately interrupted and the blade stops, without fail.

The shear is the only one on the market to offer interchangeable heads that deliver from 1.6 to 2.2 inches of cutting capacity so that one shear can knock out cane pruning and Eutypa surgery. The power tool itself weighs only 1.9 lbs, easily making it the lightest, safest, most powerful and versatile vineyard shearing system available.

“The F3015 keeps all of the best features of the previous model, but adds some really remarkable innovations,” reports Operations Manager, Van Hoorn.

Electrocoup F3015 3 kits

Van Hoorn notes that one of the dramatic improvements of the new Electrocoup F3015 model is a lightweight lithium battery that weighs less than two pounds and can be worn on the belt of a vineyard worker.

“The battery on the former model weighed a little under six pounds, and was carried on the backs of the workers, which could get hot if you are pruning in California or Texas,” explains Van Hoorn.

The lithium battery, about the size of a thick smart phone, has one-third of the weight, and comes with both a belt and vest option, made of lightweight, breathable material for maximum comfort.

In addition, the new lithium battery takes only 1.5 hours to charge, and is equipped with a special mode that charges the battery to exactly the right level so no one has to manage re-charging the battery during the off season.

Electrocoup F3015 Standard 30

Finally, the F3015 shear has a brushless motor, which allows the shear to be more ergonomic, makes it lighter, and with fewer moving parts it also makes it less likely to break down, even under the most demanding circumstances.

Van Hoorn says the lightness, efficiency and versatility of the new F3015 means that laborers can work under improved conditions, enabling vineyards to extend the number of years their best pruners can continue to produce quality results without risk of shoulder or wrist injuries. She also notes that it could facilitate the entry of more women into pruning practices, a factor that could help address long-term labor shortage issues for the agriculture industry.

“Women are working in every other part of viticulture except pruning,” Van Hoorn points out. “This tool enables them to do that. Viticulturists could double their labor pool just by encouraging the participation of women through partial mechanization like this.”

Remove Suckers 37% Faster

Have you ever noticed that bending down to remove the sucker doesn't actually remove it? The 3,000-4,000 times per day that workers bend down to remove suckers is all wasted time. Until now it has been a necessary evil for vineyard workers' backs and vineyard owners' pocket books.

Infaco’s award-winning desuckering tool is an innovative alternative that goes 37% faster than hand suckering.

  • No training (incredibly intuitive, easy-to-use tool)
  • No bending (no more wasted time or back pains)
  • No recurring costs (as with paying labor crews, chemical suckering, or using doll sheep)
