ESTASI; Best Destemmer, Whole Berries & Minimal Stem Breakage
The belt destemmer, which took the honor of BEST DESTEMMER by Wine Business Monthly in 2010 (March 2010 issue), is a fresh take on removing berries off the stem as gently as possible. It is actually best described by what it DOESNT HAVE. It doesnt have a beating shaft, a cage or "centrifugal force and the clusters are not torn apart from the rachis. Rather the berries are brushed off the rachis. Similar in design to the traditional french method of removing berries over a screen with a broom, the ESTASI has a transverse oscillating screen which gently brushes the berries off the stem. As the berries fall through the screen the rachis is brought forward into your waste bin (see image). This is seen as the most delicate way of removing berries from the stem!
This unit is also designed to give a high percentage of whole berries and minimize stem breakage. An additional feature this machine offers is a compact sorting area on top of the actual destemmer. So you can now sort and de-stem your clusters in 1 machine. When purchasing a traditional style destemmer and a sorting table separately the costs alone would surpass the price of the estasi. Wineries are already taking advantage of this feature. Click on the link below to see how the unit can be used as a sorting table as well.

Crush with ConfidenceAs harvest and grape processing season revs up, winemakers are reminded again of the value of on-call technical assistance. Equipment often sits unused and unattended until it is pressed into service by new hires or staffers who are unfamiliar with it. In addition to on-site visits, Criveller Group provides telephone technical support for the wineries who have purchased equipment through Criveller.
This support can prove essential when grapes are in and the unexpected happens. Recently, a winemaker called after his pump “ate” some metal that fell off a disintegrating screen and made its way into the pump. A Criveller technician was able to offer guidance on how to operate the pump to try to dislodge the obstruction without causing damage.
Criveller technicians are trained to guide staffers in diagnosing problems to get equipment running as quickly as possible. Criveller California recently added to its technical team to better support its clients. The hire of Chris Wishart adds another experienced technician who has spent years working in and around wineries in Northern California and Oregon.

Newly Designed D. E. Filter Offers Superior PerformanceCriveller Group is pleased to introduce a new type of D. E. filter with vertical elements (VE) that improves upon the advantages of D. E. filters.
Diatomaceous Earth (D. E.) filters are one of the least expensive types of filters to run. These long-lasting, low-maintenance filters are capable of filtering large volumes in a relatively short time.
Vertical Elements D. E. Filters have several advantages:
- Since D. E. cake can be BUILT on both sides of the screens, VE filters are smaller and more maneuverable
- VE filters are less expensive
- Washing vertical elements is easier than horizontal elements

Discharging a D. E. Filter is a relatively simple process because the exhausted cake is detached from the screens through vibration and can be recovered easily through the large opening at the bottom of the unit.
The new VE D. E. is available in sizes from 7.5 – 30 m2 with several options including a scavenger filter, double inlet/outlet manifold, and a sparkling wine (high pressure) version. Contact Criveller Group at 888-849-2266 or info@criveller.com for all the details on this improved filtering system.
Criveller Group provides technical support, superior winemaking and bottling equipment and high-quality stainless steel tanks to discerning clients for more than 30 years. More information is available at Criveller.com.

Criveller delivers new Self Emptying Tanks! The beauty of using self-emptying fermenters are the perfect solution for winemakers who struggle with unloading large fermenters. The amount of time saved in comparison to manually unloading large tanks is unparalleled.
By a simple turn of a switch, you can unload an entire red fermenter with minimal physical labor. Two stainless steel paddles turn on top of an internal reverse truncated cone and completely empties the large fermenter with ease. The paddles are controlled via a bottom mounted gearbox and motor. The unloading of pomace is even and gradual throughout the entire operation. A manway mounted on the inclined bottom allows the discharge of the pomace directly onto a conveyor, bin or adequate pump. Typically, we provide self-emptying red fermenters complete with automatic pump over systems.

Criveller 100 HL Closed Press Client ReviewWatch our interview with Chris Eberle of Eberle Winery, as he explains how easy his Criveller press and the new touchscreen panel is to use.
This organic system is constantly evolving to give you accurate estatimates for your pressing cycles. The system is designed to speed up the cycle if required, which ultimately reduces pressing times and will reduce possible oxidation. This style of programming comes standard with our new touchscreen panel, while our competition either does not offer this functionality or charges an additional premium.
Criveller offers an extensive supply of parts and unparalleled technical support for all of our clients. Please contact us for details at one of our two North American locations, or your local sales representative!
