The 3rd Annual State of Winery Health Survey Is Now Open

-> Take the Survey Here

The 3rd Annual State of Winery Health Survey is now live, and winery professionals are encouraged to participate. The goal: to gather real, actionable data on the financial, operational, and cultural health of the wine industry and create benchmarks that help winery teams make smarter, data-informed decisions.

The survey is open to all winery professionals, is completely anonymous, and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All participants will receive early access to the results and be entered to win one of two $500 gift cards.

Last year's survey revealed several trends that are reshaping how the industry thinks about winery performance and business health:

  • 80% of wineries report stable or growing sales, and 82% are profitable or have a plan to get there within 1–2 years

  • Wineries embracing modern technology are 50% more likely to see sales growth

  • Only 38% of wineries know their per-product profit margins, but those that do are more likely to be profitable

  • Wineries engaged in their local communities are 3x more likely to be profitable and report increasing sales

  • 90% of leaders rate their workplace culture positively, while only 58% of winemaking staff feel the same

The results from this year's survey will build on those insights, giving winery leaders and professionals better visibility into how their peers are managing costs, pricing strategies, team dynamics, and long-term resilience across a rapidly changing market.

What Is a Brand, Really? (And Why Yours Might Need a Little Therapy)
The word “brand” is notoriously difficult to define in marketing. If we were talking about a ranch brand—the kind seared onto livestock to signify ownership—that’s easy to understand. But in marketing, a brand is not a physical thing. It’s a symbolic construct. It’s not the label on the bottle or the winery’s logo or even the product itself. Rather, it’s the entire perception a consumer holds in their mind about your company, your wine, your people, and everything you collectively represent. A brand is a conceptual identity that differentiates you from your competitors. It can be shaped by your name, your origin story, the design of your label, the personalities involved in your winery, your tasting room experience, your packaging, your email tone, your partnerships, or even how you respond to a customer complaint. All these elements come together to form the intangible yet powerful idea of your brand. It is, quite literally, eve

What Drives Winery Health in 2026? The Data Behind Your Winery's Financial, Operational & Cultural Success
Winery health isn’t defined by one metric. It’s a reflection of how well a winery performs across three key dimensions: financial resilience, operational excellence, and cultural strength. Every year, InnoVint surveys hundreds of winery professionals to understand what truly drives a healthy winery. In the 2025 State of Winery Health Report, our statistical analysis confirmed that all three dimensions matter, but financial performance stands out as the clearest signal of overall business health. Profitability, sales growth, and pricing confidence consistently separate the strongest wineries from those struggling to keep pace. But the story doesn’t end there. Operational practices, technology adoption, and team culture all play vital roles in supporting long-term success. What Does “Winery Health” Mean in 2025? At its core, winery health represents a winery’s ability to stay profitable, efficient, and resilient — even as the industry faces

The Essential Role of GIS in Vineyard & Winery Management
In today’s wine industry, effective vineyard and winery management requires more than just good farming practices—it requires data. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have become a powerful tool for wine growers, enabling them to track, analyze, and manage data on everything from vine health to irrigation systems. Ray Carlson & Associates has been leveraging GIS technology to help clients manage their vineyards more efficiently and with greater precision. What Is GIS? GIS (Geographic Information System) is a framework used to collect, manage, and analyze spatial and geographic data. In the context of vineyards and wineries, GIS helps manage land-based data that can inform decisions on everything from crop yields to vineyard design. Why GIS Matters for Vineyard Management For vineyard owners, GIS provides a way to visualize complex data and make informed decisions. Some of the ways GIS can be used in vineyard management include: Mapping Vineyard Features: GIS helps map

Sipping Beyond Tradition The Rise of Alternative Beverages in Wine Tasting Rooms
In the ever-evolving world of wine, tasting rooms have long been sacred spaces for sampling vintages and educating consumers about winemaking. But recently, the definition of what belongs in a tasting room has expanded beyond the conventional pour. Enter the world of alternative beverages—non-alcoholic wines, wine-based cocktails like Frosé, and low-alcohol spritzers. These trends are carving out significant space, appealing to younger generations, health-conscious consumers, and a broader range of visitors. The rise of alternative beverages in tasting rooms isn’t just a fleeting fad—it’s a response to shifting consumer preferences and lifestyle trends. The adaptability of tasting rooms to these new offerings is a testament to the industry’s resilience. The question now isn’t whether tasting rooms should adapt, but how they can complement the core identity of wine while capturing the attention of a broader audience. Changing Consumer Preferen
