Regenerative Farming Practices: Water, Soil, and Habitat
Sustainable farming practices are essential for protecting the environment, improving long-term agricultural productivity, and supporting healthy communities. In fact, many of the methods highlighted today are shared across a variety of certification programs, from sustainable certifications like SIP Certified to regenerative programs like Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC). While each certification has its own specific requirements, the core principles of responsible farming remain consistent. Creating a Sustainable Ecosystem from Vine to Vendor
Wineries continue to increase their efforts to reduce their carbon footprint. From harvesting grapes grown in more sustainably focused ways, to water conservation, and fostering healthier soils, there are many things that can be done in the vineyard to make a positive impact on the local ecosystem and wildlife habitat.  Beyond environmentally conscious agricultural practices, it is important that wineries look to vendors that operate with similar sustainability views. One impactful consideration is which organization you turn to for glass packaging. If you are looking to step up your efforts even further, there is a reason to choose O-I as that partner. Since 2017, the organization’s multi-pronged approach to sustainability has resulted in a nearly 20% reduction in greenhouse (GHG) emissions. Taking a more granular look at O-I, there are other factors that make the organization a leader in the sustainable packaging space. Here are some points to consider when it comes t

Unboxing Owl Boxes
Did you know that owls are cannibalistic? Baby owls will feast on their owlet-siblings to reduce competition. Did you know that owls strike so fast they kill on contact? It’s the equivalent of getting hit with a truck…a truck with talons. I love talking to bird people. They’re such sadists. Or rather, they look at the grim brutality of the natural world and dive right in. They’re the ones who root for the T-Rex in Jurassic Park. In Don’t Look Up, they’re most likely rooting for the asteroid. So, when it comes to rodent control, a topic most people find icky, who better to consult than someone passionate about birds? Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with John Schuster of Wild Wing Company in Sonoma County, Calif. Schuster has had a fascinating career in forestry, firefighting and conservation. He also makes most of the owl boxes I see in the North Coast. It turns out if you ply him with a cappuccino, he’ll tell you all sorts of thing
