Why Yeast-Based Nutrients are Better than DAP: Organic vs. Inorganic Nitrogen
Why Yeast-Based Nutrients are Better than DAP: Organic vs. Inorganic Nitrogen Learn why organic yeast nutrition is an important part of wine quality wine production and helps to ensure reliable fermentation.  What's the Difference? Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) Inorganic Nitrogen Inorganic nitrogen is supplied as ammonia (NH3). The most common winemaking source is diammonium phosphate (DAP), which can be found as a standalone nutrient or can be part of a blended nutrient (DAP with inactivated yeast). Yeast-Based Nutrients Organic Nitrogen Organic nitrogen is supplied as amino acids. Common winemaking sources are nutrients derived from autolyzed yeast. These nutrients supply up to 19 different amino acids as well as naturally occuring vitamins and minerals from yeast. Why Choose Yeast-Based Nutrients Although yeast like DAP, it is akin to junk food. Yeast use it quickly and have a metabolic response much like a "sugar rush." Yeast based nutrients are more like a bala

Mastering Yeast Nutrition  How to Make a Fermentation Nutrition Plan Proper yeast nutrition during fermentation is key to preventing sluggish/stuck fermentations, preventing off-odors, and maximizing aroma. Scott Laboratories has always recommended making three nutrient additions at specific time points and our fermentation nutrition planner helps determine the right nutrient and dosage for each stage. READ GUIDE When to add Nutrients and Why Yeast Rehydration This nutrient addition helps get yeast into "first gear," supplying necessary vitamins and minerals required to adapt to the new environment and begin growth.  2-3°Brix Drop This nutrient addition "steps on the gas pedal." It helps yeast multiply during their growth phase and reach the maximum cell count that will finish fermentation.  1/3 Sugar Depletion At this stage, yeast have reached their maximum cell count. This nutrient "tops up the gas tank" and helps yeast sustain and com

Amplify Aroma with Stimulaâ„¢ Fermentation Nutrients
The Future of Yeast Nutrition: Amplify Aroma with Stimula™ Fermentation Nutrients Beyond being sources of yeast assimilable nitrogen (YAN), our innovative STIMULA™ nutrients also stimulate yeast metabolic pathways involved in aroma production. Shop Now The Stimula Difference  During fermentation, STIMULA™ nutrients supply additional amino acids, peptides, specific vitamins, and minerals that are crucial for the yeast’s secondary metabolism which can boost the production and/or release of key aromatic compounds like esters, thiols, and terpenes. Stimulate Ester Production  STIMULA CHARDONNAY and STIMULA CABERNET are specifically formulated with the right nutrients to maximize ester production. Increase Varietal Aroma STIMULA SAUVIGNON BLANC, STIMULA SYRAH and STIMULA PINOT NOIR provide yeast with key micronutrients needed to maximize production of Beta-Glucosidase enzymes, thereby increasing varietal aroma.   Develop a Ye

Rehydrate & Inoculate Yeast in Just 20 Min with GO-FERM STEROL FLASHâ„¢
Rehydrate & Inoculate Yeast in Just 20 Min with GO-FERM STEROL FLASH™ Introducing a revolutionary new addition to the GO-FERM® line of rehydration nutrients. GO-FERM STEROL FLASH can be used with cool water, eliminating the need for time-consuming acclimatization steps with no adverse effect on yeast health or performance.  GO-FERM STEROL FLASH is a rehydration nutrient that can be used with cool water, significantly shortening the rehydration process.  Dissolve GO-FERM STEROL FLASH in water, add yeast, wait 15 minutes, and inoculate. That's it. Non-clumping, no vigorous stirring required. Uses 50% less water than other rehydration nutrients. Enhances aroma, enhances fermentation kinetics, avoids fermentation problems. MAKE TIME FOR WHAT MATTERS  Save 1-2 hours per rehydration and give yourself more time to focus on cap management and on-time nutrient additions. LEARN MORE
