Work closely with Hermit Woods’ vintner, Ken Hardcastle, during all stages of wine making. Hermit Woods is unique: unlike conventional wineries with a vineyard producing grapes seasonally, we craft wine year round, almost like a brewery or cidery, focusing on locally-sourced high quality ingredients of a wide variety. We produce about 5000 cases annually of wine, cider and mead. A typical week, any time of the year, will include tasks associated with fermentation, pressing, racking, filtering, and/or bottling. The candidate is ideally trained in, and has had hands-on experience with all the various aspects of wine making. Applicant must be willing to lift heavy things, operate complex equipment, manage complicated logistics and be diligent in sanitation.
