The 3rd Annual State of Winery Health Survey Is Now Open

-> Take the Survey Here

The 3rd Annual State of Winery Health Survey is now live, and winery professionals are encouraged to participate. The goal: to gather real, actionable data on the financial, operational, and cultural health of the wine industry and create benchmarks that help winery teams make smarter, data-informed decisions.

The survey is open to all winery professionals, is completely anonymous, and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All participants will receive early access to the results and be entered to win one of two $500 gift cards.

Last year's survey revealed several trends that are reshaping how the industry thinks about winery performance and business health:

  • 80% of wineries report stable or growing sales, and 82% are profitable or have a plan to get there within 1–2 years

  • Wineries embracing modern technology are 50% more likely to see sales growth

  • Only 38% of wineries know their per-product profit margins, but those that do are more likely to be profitable

  • Wineries engaged in their local communities are 3x more likely to be profitable and report increasing sales

  • 90% of leaders rate their workplace culture positively, while only 58% of winemaking staff feel the same

The results from this year's survey will build on those insights, giving winery leaders and professionals better visibility into how their peers are managing costs, pricing strategies, team dynamics, and long-term resilience across a rapidly changing market.

Navigating the New Wine Landscape: 2026 US Market Trends for Wine Brands
After 30 years of moving up and to the right, the American wine industry hit a wall. Not a temporary slowdown or a soft patch. A structural shift that requires a fundamentally different marketing playbook. 2025 was the reality check. 2026 is the year wineries either adapt or watch their customer base age out beneath them. The data is now unambiguous: wine sales dropped approximately 6% in 2024, marking the steepest decline in decades according to SipSource industry data. More troubling than the headline number is what's driving it. This isn't a recession blip or a bad vintage. It's a fundamental realignment of who drinks wine, how they buy it, and what they expect from the brands they choose. Here are the five trends reshaping the US wine market and what they mean for your brand's survival. The Demographic Disruption The wine industry built its growth on one generation: Baby Boomers. That generation is now aging out. The Wine Market Council's 2025 U.S. Consumer Ben

SVB DTC Survey, with Enhancements
Coming to you this week with special invitations for you. Let me set the stage. Not sure if you've noticed but SVB has upped its game this year, in two ways, with its annual DTC survey. One way is the addition of open-ended questions whose answers will be enhanced through AI, then calibrated and verified by Rob McMillan and his team. The second way is their new Success Guide, and it will be available only to people who complete the survey. Which makes sense. Right now, every winery wants to know what they can do - what they need to do - to grow and thrive. But every winery is different, and the formula for success is also different. That's why you'll want to complete the survey. Yes, you'll receive the Success Guide, and only wineries who complete the survey will receive it. It will not be released to the public. You'll also receive the full set of slides that you can benchmark against your own winery. That's what's in it for you, whether or not you're
