The 3rd Annual State of Winery Health Survey Is Now Open!

The 3rd Annual State of Winery Health Survey Is Now Open

-> Take the Survey Here

The 3rd Annual State of Winery Health Survey is now live, and winery professionals are encouraged to participate. The goal: to gather real, actionable data on the financial, operational, and cultural health of the wine industry and create benchmarks that help winery teams make smarter, data-informed decisions.

The survey is open to all winery professionals, is completely anonymous, and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All participants will receive early access to the results and be entered to win one of two $500 gift cards.

Last year's survey revealed several trends that are reshaping how the industry thinks about winery performance and business health:

  • 80% of wineries report stable or growing sales, and 82% are profitable or have a plan to get there within 1–2 years

  • Wineries embracing modern technology are 50% more likely to see sales growth

  • Only 38% of wineries know their per-product profit margins, but those that do are more likely to be profitable

  • Wineries engaged in their local communities are 3x more likely to be profitable and report increasing sales

  • 90% of leaders rate their workplace culture positively, while only 58% of winemaking staff feel the same

The results from this year's survey will build on those insights, giving winery leaders and professionals better visibility into how their peers are managing costs, pricing strategies, team dynamics, and long-term resilience across a rapidly changing market.

Why Influencers Are Suddenly Working for Wine (And What Most Wineries Miss)
Wine Ignored Influencers. Now It Needs Them. The wine industry once mocked influencers. Now, even Forbes is saying we may need them. As wine faces declining consumption and changing buyer behavior, the voices once dismissed as “unserious” are starting to look a lot more powerful. Read the Forbes article → What’s interesting is, we’ve been talking about this shift for a while. Last year, we hosted a webinar with MiniSocial on how wineries can use micro-influencers and user-generated content (UGC) to drive engagement and sales. Here’s what still holds true: UGC outperforms brand content—everywhere Content created by real customers feels more natural—and consistently drives higher engagement across social, ads, and email. Micro-influencers build trust faster Smaller audiences, but far more engaged—and far more believable than traditional ads. Your customers are your best marketers UGC shows how people actually experience your wine&md

300 Episodes of Sustainable Winegrowing: A Look Behind the Mic
When we launched the Sustainable Winegrowing Podcast in 2016, we weren’t sure where it would go. Now, 300 episodes later, it’s become a go-to resource for growers, researchers, educators, and wine industry professionals dedicated to sustainability. To mark this milestone, we flipped the mic around and interviewed our host, Craig Macmillan, PhD — long-time vineyard and winery professional, educator, and now podcasting veteran — to reflect on some favorite episodes, meaningful moments, and what’s ahead. From Zoom Recordings to Global Reach Craig began hosting when the podcast was just an idea sparked by the Vineyard Team’s goal to make sustainable winegrowing knowledge more accessible. “I wasn't a podcast listener at all,” Craig admits. “But I said sure, why not? Let's try it.” Since then, the show has featured scientists, growers, and innovators from all over the world, creating a ripple effect of conversations and c
