FROM POUR TO PURPOSE
Ten Ways Wineries Can Evolve From Selling Bottles to Creating Experiences That Resonate With a New Generation. If I told you a winery just opened with no vineyard, no winemaker on staff, and no interest in talking about terroir… would you visit? What if I told you it had a silent disco in the barrel room, a drag brunch series, and a 3-month waitlist for a zero-proof pairing menu? Those wineries exist. And they’re thriving. Because for a new generation of visitors, the wine isn’t the reason—it’s the reward. It’s not about what you pour anymore. It’s about how you make people feel. And we used to excel at this. But then we woke up one day… and it wasn’t working like it used to. The same offers stopped converting. The same messages started falling flat. The same visitors didn’t come back. And it’s not because we got worse at what we do. It’s because the customer changed. What they want. How they behave. Where t

YOU CAN'T MARKET TO EVERYONE
WHY DEMOGRAPHICS STILL MATTER IN WINE At first glance, it may seem logical to take a broad approach to wine marketing—after all, shouldn’t the goal be to sell wine to anyone who’s willing to buy it? Not exactly. In practice, marketing to “everyone” is a fast track to appealing to no one. You water down your message, misfire your tactics, and wind up wasting both budget and energy trying to reach people who were never going to buy from you in the first place. Smart marketing is selective, not scattershot. And that’s where demographics come in. At their core, demographics are just the quantifiable details about your customers—things like age, gender, income, education, and marital status. But in the hands of a capable marketer, demographics become strategic tools. They help decode how different consumers make decisions, what cultural cues they respond to, and how best to approach them with offers they’ll actually care about. Wine, with all

The 12 Days of Data: What Last Year’s Holiday Sales Should Teach You
If your winery’s December felt like a sugar high followed by a January hangover, congratulations—you’re in the club. The holiday season brings out the best and worst of wine marketing. We see a flurry of emails, social posts, pop-up bundles, and panicked “last chance for shipping!” reminders that make even Santa unsubscribe. But behind all that glitter and noise sits something actually useful: data. And data, unlike mistletoe or tinsel, ages beautifully—if you know how to use it. Day 1: The Ghost of Open Rates Past Let’s start with the easy one. You sent fifteen emails between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, and shocker—open rates dropped after the first week. This isn’t your subscribers turning into Grinches; it’s list fatigue. Consumers are bombarded with messages from every brand they’ve ever accidentally clicked “subscribe” on. The fix: cut your frequency, not your revenue. Segment your list by engage

GOlite Expands SmartBarrel's Reach to Primary Fermentation
The makers of SmartBarrel Wine Storage system are proud to announce the introduction of GOlite, a new fermentation head that enables primary fermentation in SmartBarrel liners. It is suitable for use with grape juice (but not grape must), cider, mead and other liquid substrates. “We chose the GOfermenter system to minimize water use in our extreme desert location, but the benefits go far beyond water conservation,” avers Ann Torrence of Etta Place Cider in Torrey, Utah, “We are known for clean flavors because our fermentations are so hygienic in the bags, and we love the ease of clean-up when we are racking ciders.” The new add-on tool includes a temperature probe and a sampling port with a weighted ball for dipping into the fermenting liquid. A large relief valve permits the safe venting of gas from the primary fermentation. Its sealed liner condenses volatile aromatics back into the wine, enhancing the flavor profile of the final product. This new head also el

Still Cleaning Tanks? GOlite: No Cleaning, Juice Fermentor
GOlite™ is the latest fermentation product from innovator GOfermentor. It is designed to provide many of the benefits of the GOfermentor disposable wine fermentation system at a very low cost. Unlike the GOfermentor which has automatic punching and built-in press, GOlite is only usable for liquids. It is therefore suitable for fermentation of grape and other fruit juices. It can also be used for cider, mead, and similar products. It cannot be used for grape must or fruit that needs to be pressed.  Like it’s bigger brother, GOlite has many advantages over traditional fermentation methods that use fixed tank or open bins: Uses Your Container: Advantages of a closed clean system in container you already have. No Washing: Fermentation is performed in single-use plastic liners made of FDA approved food grade materials. This eliminates labor and wastewater. Better Quality: Sanitary single-use design ensures cleanliness. Sealed bag eliminates air and insects. Aromatics

SmartBarrel Wine Storage System: New Options
Storing wine safely has been a problem for centuries. Oxygen and microbial contamination can quickly ruin wine. Many solutions have been attempted – from sealed amphora to rubber bladders. Modern wine storage practice employ mainly barrels and metal tanks, but all these devices have a critical weakness – they are rigid containers – so there is headspace. Wine loss due to leakage, evaporation, and removal causes air to enter the container increasing the headspace, and the air in the headspace oxidizes the wine. The only remedy is to top-off the containers periodically, but this is labor intensive and introduces air into the container. It also greatly increases the risk of microbial contamination. Some techniques such floating head tanks or argon blanketing are used, but these are expensive and prone to failure. The SmartBarrel by GOfermentor provides an effective, economical, and reliable solution for the safe storage of wine during racking, aging, and bulk. This tech
