Introducing TAVA Amphora – Handmade Italian Ceramic Amphora
Bouchard Cooperages is extremely happy to announce our representation of TAVA: The Italian handmade ceramic amphora producer located in Mori Trentino Italy. Acting as the exclusive distributor of TAVA in North America we believe that TAVA is the reference amphora for winemaking worldwide. History TAVA is a family-owned and operated company led by third-generation Francesco Tava and located in Mori Trentino, Italy. For over three generations, TAVA has been producing ceramic-based products. Guala Closures Group: Moving Wine Forward with Aluminum Screw Caps
Aluminum screw cap closures for wine bottles are expanding worldwide, yet some countries have lower adoption rates than others. Top users are New Zealand, with 99% of wines sealed with screw caps, and Australia, with 80%. The world’s largest manufacturer of aluminum closures, the Guala Closures Group, is working hard to promote the obvious benefits of aluminium screw caps for the wine industry. Regions with a long history in wine, like Europe and North America, have a traditional preference for cork. However, times are changing, and screw cap closures align with the active lifestyle of younger consumers who appreciate their convenience and functionality. These consumers are less enamored with wine traditions. They are also ever vigilant about sustainability claims when choosing wines, which makes 100% recyclable and reusable aluminum attractive. Screw cap closures also allow for moderation, a key trend in today’s culture, where sharing a glass and saving the rest for

Is There Truly a Replacement for Oak Barrels in Winemaking?
The most sought after benefits of using oak barrels are touted to be: 1) Oxidation 2) Imparting Oak Profile Notes A question for many winemakers looking to find more affordable solutions for their business is "Are those process benefits able to be genuinely recreated?" The answer is yes... with the Flextanks & FlexStaves system of winemaking. For nearly 20 years, winemakers in the United States and Europe have used Flextanks to make world class wines. Flextanks have many uses in a winery, including the maturation of wines, because they breath like a barrel- providing precise and consistent linear micro-oxygenation to your wines. The Flextank system cooperatively with our proprietary FlexStaves line, sourced from a world-class cooperage to age both red and white wines, can accurately replicate the results of barrel maturation and aging. Scientific technologies are playing a bigger and bigger role in modern wineries, and Flextanks have long been replacing traditional woo

Vinfoil - the Energy-Saving Tank Mixer
Vinfoil Tank Mixers Improve Winemaking Processes, Save Energy and Labor Costs, and Offer Remote Monitoring Capabilities The mechanical mixing of a wine tank can have a dramatic effect on wine consistency, quality, and taste. BevZero’s Vinfoil mixers, custom-designed precisely for each tank, eliminate temperature striation throughout the vessel, thus ensuring a controllable, consistent product. During primary fermentation and cold stabilization, the rate of controlled cooling provided by Vinfoil tank mixing is increased by reducing product residence time to complete required wine treatment, resulting in faster process outcomes with increased tank turnover rates. The faster processing time provides a reduction in energy usage, and thus a cost savings. Additionally, since the Vinfoil mixers are designed precisely for each tank, there is no moving from tank to tank, reducing labor and worker injuries. The Vinfoil mixer can be easily integrated to operate in conjunction with related w

Wine Closure Innovation Provides New Oenological Tools for Winemakers
Diam Bouchage, the leading manufacturer of technical cork closures for still wines, sparkling wines, and spirits, introduced new permeability options for their popular Diam 10 and Diam 30 corks at the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium. “Our closure solution is a winemaking solution,” said Dominique Tourneix, CEO Diam Bouchage, speaking at the Symposium. These new cork options allow winemakers to bottle the same wines, on the same day, with different DIAM corks depending on the objectives of aging and maturity characteristics of the wine. “Diam is a recipe with different ingredients,” explains Tourneix. “By playing with the recipe, and the proportion of the different ingredients, we can adjust the oxygen transfer through the cork structure. Sometimes you may wish to have a quicker wine evolution, and other times you may want to keep it for 30 years. Until recently, the Diam 10 and 30 range had a very tight closure, but we have developed a new recipe with
