Seasonality isn’t just about weather; it’s about mindset. Your customers’ buying habits shift with the seasons, and the wineries that understand how to tap into those rhythms are the ones that thrive. From cozy winter nights to sun-soaked summer afternoons, each season offers unique opportunities to connect with your audience, tell your story, and drive wine club sign-ups. But here’s the truth: seasonal promotions don’t work if they’re slapped together at the last minute. A well-planned campaign, anchored by your website and supported by social media and paid media, can turn slow months into sales booms and casual visitors into loyal club members. Coming in at 98 points, judges praised the wine as “rich, ripe” and for its “Bing cherry,” and “hint of orange peel.” Lula Cellars is a boutique winery located in California’s Anderson Valley. Its focus is on world-class Pinot Noirs both from its estate and across Anderson Valley, as well as other single-vineyard offerings from the greater Mendocino County. When preparing to plant their own vines, Lula owners discovered some-1,000 old vines “literally lying down, as if waiting to be rescued.” Lots of TLC later, these mystery Pinot Noir grapes have thrived. The wine marketplace continues its post-pandemic shifts. By Laurie Wachter The August 24 Wine Industry Sales Symposium consisted of four sessions covering the value of DTC and sales data in boosting sales, planning for the holidays, corporate gifting and luxury marketing strategy. Here’s a quick look back. Using Data Analytics to Optimize DTC Pricing and Inventory Depletion Costs have risen exponentially since the onset of the pandemic, making it even more critical to use data analytics to guide wine pricing to maximize profits. “Wineries have an amazing amount of data from their POS systems and wine clubs that can be used to build a depletion curve, price elasticity estimates and predictive models,” says Bob Terzotis of Mather Economics.
