Newly Established Century Club Honors 22 Sonoma County Legacy Farm Families
Each Family Has Continuously Farmed Land for More than 100 Years The image of vibrant farms and rugged ranches set among Sonoma County’s beautiful landscapes has long been sought after by tourists, painters and photographers. The sheer beauty has always stood out, but, given that the area’s first vineyards date back to 1812, it is the region’s agrarian roots and family legacy that makes Sonoma County unique. Today, twenty-two local families, all winegrape growers, were recognized as the original members of the “Century Club” in honor of their continuously farming their family’s original land for more than one hundred years. Sonoma County Winegrowers created the Century Club to mark the unique legacies of farm families in the region and it will recognize new families with the honor as they hit the one-hundred-year mark in the years ahead. Each of these farms – and the families behind them – have endured the ups and downs of the cyclical

Travel Trends for Harvest Visitation
Can you believe it’s March? Soon rain will abate, buds will break, and Q2 will be here before we know it along with, hopefully, tourists. This blog starts by summarizing a recent Forbes study about travel plans this year, and then we wrap up with a summary of some trends we think you can build upon this year. Will the political climate once again hijack all of America’s attention and make people wary of venturing out? Or will it be more likely to scare us to other countries for a respite abroad? If tasting room traffic is down this year as it was last year, it is even more important to know what consumers are looking for in the hopes of developing programs consumers want. The smart winery will be continually testing different experiences this year to try and attract the right customer to their brand. This blog starts summarizing a recent Forbes study about travel plans this year, and then we wrap up with a summary of some of the trends we think you can build upon this year

A Brave New World for DTC Wine Marketers
The unofficial flag of DTC marketing  — circa 2019 I once asked a pilot what it's like to fly a plane. The answer was "hours of boredom interrupted by brief moments of terror." Over the last decade, many wine merchants could say the same about piloting their DTC marketing. Following the lead of other industries, wine merchants developed a repeatable success formula, neatly summarized by Angelsmith, and adopted as the unofficial flag of an entire generation of DTC wine marketers. During the "rinse & repeat" era, wine marketing became boring and lucrative. Then our brief moments of terror came in the form of a pandemic upending our comfortable routines. Now that we've survived the pandemic, today's wine marketers face a choice. Retreat to the past or chart a new path to success in a changing marketplace.   But no matter how much we miss the past, we all know there's no going back.   AN URGENT NEED FOR A WINE MARKETING RENA
