Daniel Harrop Is Global Package’s New SoCal/Oregon Sales Rep
June 3, 2024 – Erica Harrop, Founder and CEO of Global Package, is thrilled to announce the addition of her son, Daniel, to the Global Package sales team. “Needless to say, Daniel has been immersed in the wine and spirits industry since childhood, and I am so happy he wanted to continue that interest as a professional,” says Harrop. Daniel graduated from Sonoma State in May 2021 with a B.A. in Business Administration and a concentration in Wine Business Strategies, including a WSET certification, bestowed by The Wine & Spirit Education Trust, which is a global organization that arranges courses and exams in the fields of wine, spirits, beer, and sake. Upon graduation, Daniel worked for Advantage Solutions Marketing Partners as Business Development Representative for Anheuser-Busch LLC, where he introduced and grew their new Seltzer brands and Cutwater Cocktails, overseeing all facets of these launches. The Drizly Void and How Makers Can Navigate It with LibDib
By Cheryl Durzy, Founder & CEO, LibDib From my desk here at LibDib, the recent closure of Drizly has been a topic of both professional and personal contemplation. Drizly wasn't just another tech startup; it was a pioneer in the compliant delivery of alcohol, blending innovative tech with a flair for irreverent marketing—exactly what the beverage industry needed back in 2015. Despite its downfall, partly hastened by a significant data breach, I have only respect for what Drizly achieved and for its team, some of whom I've been fortunate enough to know personally. In fact, one of the Drizly founders reached out to me within days of LibDib's launch. We discussed potential synergies, shared visions and experiences that highlighted the power of innovation in our field. Later, during the pandemic, we even exchanged town hall meetings and company swag, fostering a spirit of camaraderie. These interactions are cherished memories now (along with my Drizly hoodie), especial

Please Join Us in Dedicating This Year's North Coast Wine Challenge to Bill Hayes.
In Dedication to Bill Hayes - Judge The Press Democrat North Coast Wine Challenge along with its intimate team of judges are saddened by the recent loss of much-loved fellow judge Bill Hayes. Bill was one of the core judges for the past 5 competitions and his expertise, knowledge, experience, and friendliness will be very much missed. Says Daryl Groom Chief Judge “Bill was always top of my list to invite back every year. He had a great palate but more importantly he just got along with everyone. He is a judge you could put on any panel as he loved and appreciated all wines and simply got along with everyone. He was always happy and smiling and at the end of every competition made sure he came and thanked me for having him and how much he enjoyed himself. He was often the last one to leave, always being around and volunteering for any Gold Medal judge offs for Best of Class. He oozed passion, respect, and kindness.                   &

A Palette of Possibilities: Elevating Wine Bottles with Color
In the competitive world of wine retail, standing out on the shelf is all about grabbing the consumer’s attention. Wineries have experimented with catchy logos, bold lettering, textured paper and whole-bottle labels and many other packaging options to make their wine’s appearance unique. One of the most impactful ways to make a difference is with color. In a sea of black and white, a dynamic orange or brilliant blue will stand out, even when bottles shrink to thumbnail size on Drizly or TotalWine.com. Monvera Glass Decoration recently added a new capability that allows them to spray-coat the entire bottle in any color and apply different finishes—opaque, transparent, translucent or frosted. These options generate endless combinations, from black matte to etched cobalt blue or opaque white to replace hard-to-find smalt and opal glass. Customers can have Monvera screen print the bottle label with UV inks on top of the coating or apply labels on their own bottling lines.

Behind The Bottle: Label Refresh for Quintessential Wines' Brand - Two Angels
Shelf competition is fiercer than ever, but quality screen printed packaging can give you the edge your brand needs to stand out in the market.  When it comes to screen printing, it is more than just applying paint to your bottles. It’s about bringing your vision to life.  Here's a closer look at Quintessential Wines brand - Two Angels, and their recent label refresh executed by BERGIN Screen Printing & Etching. BEHIND THE BOTTLE The paper label for Two Angels was inspired by Jacob de Backer’s artwork, which dates back to 1591. The theme of the piece is the hilarity of inebriation and the trauma of the morning after. Excessive joy must be countered by equally excessive sorrow with penitential atonement for pleasure. An allegorical warning to drink sparingly or “suffer the consequences.” DESIGN DETAILS Family produced, the cherubs represent two brothers, the children of the family behind the Two Angels label. SPARKLING WINE TAKES TOP HONORS FOR FIRST TIME EVER April 12, 2021 (Santa Rosa, Calif.) — Winners have been determined in the 2021 Press Democrat North Coast Wine Challenge (NCWC), and for the first time in the event’s nine-year history, a sparkling wine has bested the competition. Sonoma-Cutrer's 2014 Grand Cuvée was chosen by judges as the Best of the Best. This regional competition rates wines exclusively produced and bottled in Northern California's premier winegrowing region. Eligible wines must be made from fruit sourced in the North Coast AVAs of Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Sonoma, Marin and parts of Solano counties. This includes any bottled wine labeled with these AVAs as their main source of grapes and whose winery is in California. This year’s NCWC had the highest ever number of entries (nearly 1,200) from a record number of individual wineries (221), indicating both the prestige of the competition and the hunger for the r
