For more than three decades, Bergin Screen Printing and Etching has set the standard for etched wine bottle decoration. While the bottles themselves have been widely showcased, the meticulous craftsmanship behind them has remained largely unseen, traditionally kept behind workshop doors in Napa Valley. Until now. “As wineries face evolving consumer expectations, the need to provide more compelling reasons to visit has never been greater. We’ve seen our clients actively seeking new ways to innovate, attract guests, and stand out. That’s where this idea started to take shape.” says Savannah Bergin, Director of Operations. With the launch of Bespoke by Bergin, a new chapter in wine hospitality begins, one that brings a legacy craft into the moment and invites guests to become part of it. At its core, Bespoke introduces a new approach to brand expression in wine, one that extends beyond the finished product and into immersive wine experiences. Rather than simp

Screen printing on bottles, also known as applied color labeling or ACL, is a delicate process that we’ve been perfecting for over twenty years. One of the frequently asked questions we often get asked is whether we can screen print wine labels on full bottles. The answer is NO and here’s why. When screen printing, thermal-plastic inks are applied via squeegee and screens, which are then fired in a high temperature Lehr for at least 2-3 hours to permanently fuse paint to the glass. If you’d like your bottles decorated on a filled product, we recommend etching. Unlike screen printing, etching is a cold (and entirely handmade) process with no heat application required. We take your label inspiration, be it your paper label designs, a cherished photo, or a piece of original art, and completely translate it to an etched format from scratch. When working on full bottles, we never expose them to temperatures higher than 66°F, making the process ideal for finishing l

BEHIND THE BOTTLE Bogle Vineyards, along with their glass supplier and design team, met with Bergin in 2018 to refresh their Phantom Chardonnay package. Their goal was to reach and engage new consumers with a visually stunning and impactful label. The original focus was the Chardonnay but quickly carried over to the Phantom Red Blend. The transition to screen print has been wildly successful for both labels and it’s now impossible to miss them on the shelves. DESIGN DETAILS Auston Design Group, along with San Francisco-based tech company Tactic, worked together to redesign the Phantom Chardonnay package. Phantom’s original paper label has been replaced with a screen-printed label depicting a haunted vineyard that is blanketed in a ghostly golden fog. The haunting feel to this label is no coincidence as it pays homage to the Bogle family name, which means “ghost” in Scottish. The design wraps around the bottle and is accentuated with an elegant, 22-karat gol
