WINNERS TO BE ANNOUNCED LIVE ON FACEBOOK APRIL 7
(April 6, 2021) SANTA ROSA, CALIF. — Judging commences today for the ninth annual Press Democrat North Coast Wine Challenge, a regional competition that rates wines exclusively produced and bottled in Northern California's premier winegrowing region to determine which wines are considered the Best of the Best.
Eligibility includes wines made in these California North Coast AVAs: Lake County, Mendocino County, Napa County, Sonoma County, Marin County and Solano County. Judging panels are comprised of highly qualified members of wine media, wine buyers, sommeliers, winemakers, and wine educators.
In a sign that the panic of the pandemic is lifting, event organizer Wine Competitions Management & Production received a record number of entries this year, soaring significantly over previous years’ numbers. Given the quality of wines produced in the region, judges have their work cut out for them.
Following a full day of preliminary judging, the experts will gather on Wednesday, April 7, to evaluate initial winners and determine which wines are this year’s winners. Awards will be given by varietal and AVA, eventually narrowing down to Best Red Wine, Best White Wine, Best Sparkling Wine, and Best Rosé. Ultimately these contenders will face off to determine which wine is 2021’s Best of the Best.
On April 7th, 2021 this year’s top 8 wines will be announced Live on Facebook - April 7th, 2021 11am (Pacific)
