Saverglass Offers Sneak Peek Into Day 5 Of The Exclusive Napa Rise Symposium

Paving the path for the California wine industry, Napa Green recently wrapped up hosting it's second Napa Rise Symposium where valuable climate change topics were shared and discussed.

The Saverglass team attended Day 5: Supply Chain & Waste Prevention

On supply chain packaging, the headline topics included the CO2 impact of DtC shipping ground vs air freight as well as a new boxed option, the use of recyclable plastic liners for label rolls and the benefits of choosing a lighter weight bottle. Attendees were encouraged to talk to their suppliers about how they have validated their roadmap that will propel them to their carbon neutral goal and to engage them with the question of, ‘what else should I know?'.

Applying the new tools introduced in the education sessions, attendees engaged with the Saverglass team to learn more about our road to Carbon Neutrality and inquired about our sustainable efforts that extend beyond providing our customers with more lightweight options.

Some of our responses included the following,

Weight - The bottle weight impacts our customer's direct and measurable carbon footprint. High quality lightweight bottles are available and more are launching. Saverglass has the ability to take an existing bottle and reduce its weight between 10% - 30% while maintaining the quality and visual appeal of the original bottle.

Repacking - We do offer repacking and have a corrugate supplier, or you can use your own and we can repack for you. Either way, the plastic wrap we use to wrap the cased pallet is made from recycled plastic and is compostable.  The pallets are also reused (after passing quality inspection) and sold at a discounted rate.

Our Biggest Impact - As the manufacturer of our own bottles, the biggest impact Saverglass can make to reduce our CO2 footprint (no matter what the weight) involves the type of energy we use to power the furnaces that melt the cullet and raw material to make each glass bottle. The type of energy depends on multiple factors, including technological advances, availability of the energy resource and cost.

External Validation - Of the CO2 roadmap and tracking for success.  Saverglass is Science Based Targets initiative approved and received the Gold from EcoVadis.

Saverglass recently surveyed customers with the goal of doing even more to provide our customers with,

- Cost-effective sustainable solutions

- Increased transparency for your supply chain

- Innovative product development

- Enhanced ESG reporting support

This isn't just our journey – We all agree, it's a shared commitment to doing what matters.
