Nominations are now open for the North Bay Business Journal’s 5th annual Wine Industry Awards. In addition to wine industry leaders, outstanding industry suppliers will be recognized, and Wine Industry Network will present this year’s WINnovation Awards for innovation in wine business.
New this year is the addition of beer and spirits awards in recognition of the growing number of premium makers based in the North Bay that play leading roles in the craft beverage revolution.

Wine Industry Awards Ceremony to Honor 22 Industry RecipientsTwenty-two companies and executives in the wine business were named for the Business Journal’s third annual Wine Industry Awards and Wine Industry Network’s WINnovation Awards.
From nominations, the Journal selected 13 companies as notable industry suppliers including three cork suppliers selected for their individual growth and innovations. Four industry executives and managers were picked for their achievements, including an inspiring pruner-turned-proprietor and a marketer who creates “viral” messaging via social media moxie and videographic savvy. Wine Industry Network picked five innovative companies, including companies with breakthroughs in wine tank sanitation and vine water usage.
The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony Dec. 1 at Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel & Spa in Santa Rosa.

The Wine Group CEO Talks Expansion to 'Premium-Plus' Brands to Reach MillennialsThe Wine Group has grown to become the second-largest U.S. wine company, producing the equivalent of 53 million standard 9-liter cases annually. North Bay Business Journal spoke with Brian Vos, president since 2009 and CEO since 2012. He’s set to be the keynote speaker at the Journal’s Wine Industry Conference in Santa Rosa on April 26. His wine business career spans nearly three decades, starting with the largest U.S. producer, E&J Gallo, in 1989. He joined The Wine Group as vice president of supply chain in 2002.
